We're here to make running accessible for young people - not just for the sport itself, but for everything it gives you. The joy, the discipline, the mental strength, the confidence and the sense of belonging. Through evidence-based programs, we create pathways to better mental health and stronger communities.
Our mission is simple: to build futures, open hearts and create opportunities for young people to feel strong - physically and mentally. Guided by lived experience and deep commitment to care, we are creating more than a foundation. We are creating a movement for wellness, growth and belonging.

We offer free coaching, mentoring, leadership support and community workshops for young people 10-17. Our programs are designed to support young people from all backgrounds, with a strong focus on confidence building, wellbeing and personal development.
At the Oboya Foundation, every program is built to create safe, inclusive environments where young people feel supported, seen and believed in. We show young people what's possible when they are given the tools, encouragement and opportunity to grow. We don't just develop athletes - we develop leaders.
As an Ethiopian-born Australian Olympian, it might surprise people that I had no idea what Little Athletics was growing up. I discovered running on my own, and it quickly became home - the place I felt most myself. That path took me all the way to proudly representing Australia.
At Oboya Foundation, we give every participant a free and evidence-based shot at the start line, so they have the right tools to run their own race - on and off the track.
